Hi Judith,

The first method makes changes to the way Word works with respect to spell
checks as you type text.

In Word, press Alt T to get to Tools, then press O to open the options menu.
Press shift tab to get to the page tabs. You will be on the View page tab.
Press up arrow twice to get to the security page tab and then right arrow
once to move to the spelling and grammar page tab. Press the tab key to
move into the dialog box. The first option is a check box titled "check
spelling as you type." To turn this off, make sure the box is not checked.
Press enter to save and exit the dialog box.

When reading through text and you don't want to worry about spelling or
grammar goofs, you can do it that way.

The second method tells JAWS you don't want to be notified when there is a
spelling or grammar error, even though Word is showing them on the screen.

Press Insert V to bring up the verbosity menu. Press down arrow to
"Spelling and grammar off." If you want to hear the spelling and grammar
errors, make sure this is set to on. I think the default is that it is set
to off. To turn it on, press space bar and then press Enter to exit. The
setting will be saved.

Nice having two different ways to do things.

Francis
