If someone wants to know how to set up a filter for his/her e-mail
program, then this would fit the list guidelines? If someone wanted
instructions on how to burn a cd, this would fit the list guidelines?
If someone wanted to know how to shoutcast with Winamp, this would fit
the list guidelines? Maybe we all should see the rules again. There
should be a mission statement regarding the list's intentions. Bruce
brings up a good point.

Like Yardbird, I bridle at issue being used as a synonym for
problem. It
is a therapy word. I once heard a therapist describe a patient as
having
an issue with his arm and another with his quadriceps, then "Oh, he
has
an issue with getting a ride here."

It is useful to find out what versions of what particular
application
work with JAWS, especially since there no decipherable
consistencies.
Then there are questions about how to make a program work, menu
items,
hot keys, etc. What should be out of bounds are questions that have
nothing to do with computers, but are blindness related.

There was talk about "skins" this morning, and I haven't the
slightest
idea what that means. It's not a JAWS issue or problem, so should
the
kibosh be put on the string?

It might be a prudent move on the part of list management to again
    define
what constitutes a JAWS issue. There are several schools of thought
    here.
One is that if you're trying to use it with JAWS, it is a JAWS
issue.
    This
would mean that any software issue whatsoever is up for discussion.
Then
there are narrower views. List management should, in my view, define
things relatively clearly and be consistent in enforcement of those
    definitions.
