I am a singer and I would like to find a good program that would be useable with Jaws or any other screen reader to record separate tracks and then put them together.

Laura, by far the most accessible package for us is Cakewalk Sonar, along with the free Jaws scripts for it called JSonar.
www.cakewalk.com for the software and
www jsonar.com for the scripts.
There is a mailing list for JSonar you can join, documentation on the JSonar site, excellent online help that comes with Sonar itself, and there are message forums for Sonar on the Cakewalk site. Also, there's a great list called Midi-mag for blind folks and music technology. To join, go to
http://www.midimag.org/

If you're a complete novice when it comes to doing midi, recording, mixing, editing etc. on the computer, you might be better served by the CakeTalking package from Dancing Dots, which consists of both scripts and a very long tutorial full of step-by-step instructions. For information on that, go to:
http://www.dancingdots.com/prodesc/CakeTalkingForSONAR.htm

Oh, and be sure to get a decent audio interface for your computer, a good microphone or two, etc. It all depends what your needs are and what amount of money you are willing to spend. Usually, you get what you pay for.

Chris, trying to nip this one in the bud *grin*
