Re: Running JFW on a lap top with two sound cards

First, be sure that in the default.jcf file under synthesizer you have checked 'allow wave files with synthesizer'. This choice only appears in the default.jcf menu, not the menus specific to an application.

In Control panel, go to Sounds and audio devices, control-tab to audio, and determine your audio output. Often it's a Sound Blaster card, saying something like "SB LIVE! 24-bit". Mine is an onboard chip, SigmaTel Audio.

Next. Go to JFW.INI, and locate the synthesizer lines related to Eloquence. My computer says
Synth1Name=eloq
Synth1LongName=Eloquence Software
Synth1Driver=eloq

Immediately under the last line, insert
Synth1Port=SB LIVE! 24 bit

or whatever your onboard sound is. I rebooted JAWS next, and it all worked like a charm.

the USB sound card installed itself. When it's connected, music comes out of it and JFW comes through the lap top speaker. When it's disconnected everything comes through the lap top speaker as it used to do.

Smooth as silk!

hi,

I've often wondered how this worked. How, exactly does one go about doing this?
