If I didn't already have jaws I would likely not shell out the $1200 for it now and would just go with NVDA and live with the inconvenience. That being said, I do have jaws and NVDA still has quite a ways to go before I would be willing to switch to it full time. I have not been all that impressed with either jaws 10 or 11 (9 was a huge improvement over 8 which was the first version of JFW I used), I also haven't looked at the JFW 12 betas. If the $200 every couple years were an issue for me (it is not, thankfully) I would probably let the SMA lapse and hope NVDA catches up in the next couple years.
