First, just to avoid confusion, make sure you have Outlook and not
Outlook express; they're not at all the same, and it's very unfortunate
MS chose this naming scheme.

Now, if you do have outlook and press control-2, you'll end up in an
empty calendar (no wonder you saw nothing). See my other email on
setting the view here for a list of active appointments rather than the
default of a 2-dimensional weekly or monthly calendar.

While you're here in the calendar, you can add a new appointment with
the control-n shortcut. This tells outlook to create a new whatever
you're in at the moment; if you're in your mailbox you get a new email
message, but here in the calendar you get a new appointment dialog, with
fields to fill out.

You're other choice is that you can stay in your mailbox and use the
file | new submenu and choose appointment from that menu. This will
bring you to the same new appointment dialog without having you actually
have to switch to the calendar, and then back to your mailbox.

If you're using this in a corporate environment, with an exchange
server, let me know so I can add some additional information.

Chip
