To the person asking about norton firewall blocking an application. Well it
can be accomplished with jaws, but not easily.
Bring up the norton main window, I don't know what you have but if you have
internet security, run it from your programs menu.
Tab or arrow down to personal firewall and press the space bar.
Now this is where I ran into a weird problem.
If you tab you will find a configure button.
Pressing the space bar on configure brings up a page with tabs.
You should be able to click on the programs tab with the jaws cursor.
Then arrow down with the jaws cursor and find the list of applications
(progran manes).
Then you can go back to pc cursor and up and down arrow in the list.
You can press alt A to add an application,
alt M to modiy an application (permit, block, or manually configure).
or alt E to remove an application.
Or while you are on a progam name, in jaws cursor, if you read word by word
until you hear for example permit all, or automatic, and left click it, you
will get a context menu that says permit all, block all, or custom.
But here is the really really weird thing. You have to go into jaws cursor
mode before you space bar on the configure button. At least I did and I
tried it several times. Otherwise even if I tried to route jaws, all it did
was keep reading the prior page (the main page). Now I thought it was just
the bug in Jaws, but I tried it with Jaws 6.20 also and it did the same
thing. I had to use the jaws cursor on the button, then hit the jaws cursor
again to read the page with the tabs. Maybe that part was just something
strange happening with me.

That would be the firewall blocking access, not the antivirus.
I would have to reinstall norton to see how you allow access to a program
with the firewall, but I know one thing that drives me crazy about Norton is
that it always has those pop up windows that you hear and they are gone
before you even can begin to look for them. You have me curious, I'll
reinstall the norton security and see if I can find where you can allow
access to a program.

I tell ya what. I have been using Norton now for a long time and I am tired
of it. I have Norton 2005 with the updates. I use skype and Norton always
locks it up and says that I have to permit the program to run. I think you
need sighted help with this. I can't find it with the jaws cursor. I will
switch to AVG when my subscription runs out.
