RE: Making JAWS work for two computer users

Hello Everyone,

Maybe I am missing the point here but....
Insert F4 will close JAWS. So this seems like an easy thing for the JAWS
user to do when they leave the computer.
When they return to use it, a hot key can be set up. See instructions
below.
Or also to restart JAWS, I also very reliably press the Window M key
combination to focus on the desk top, type J, which will jump down to JAWS
(this is the only item on my desk top that begins with J) and press enter.
JAWS will load.

Using Hot keys is an efficient way to launch programs, like JAWS.
1. Move focus to the Desktop (. (Windows M)
2. Press J, the first letter of the desktop shortcut, JAWS.
3. Press ALT+ENTER to access the Properties dialog box. Confirm that your
focus is on the Shortcut Page.
4. Press ALT+K or the TAB key to move to the shortcut key control. Press J
to assign J as the hotkey for JAWS.
5. Press INSERT+UP ARROW to hear the keystroke you chose.
Sometimes if you choose a key combination that is already assigned, Windows
will automatically add another key to your combination. Use the say line
command to verify your hotkey choice. For example, if you type J for JAWS,
Windows will add CTRL+ALT to the J.

Always,
Barbara Anne

David,

under xp then the login screen isn't read to you (unless you do as Roy
suggests and start jaws for all accounts, and then stop it for each account
which doesn't want to use jaws with a special utility run for those accounts
as part of their login).

I think vista and jaws 9 does have this capability.

We have an xp laptop that I share with my wife at home, and she just closes
jaws. It's easier for her to do that than it is for me to reliably start
jaws manually.
