Hello all, I am running Vista, Office 203 on a relatively new HP Laptop. When I installed JAWS 11, Outlook had some serious problems that I worked onwith FS. No Luck. I went back to JAWS 10 and my system works fine. I hesitate to try JAWS 12.I believe software should work with the basic OS and Office before they tryto support other software. Obviously, though, how a program works with different software and websites is also pretty important to people, whether in the workforce or no. One of my criticisms of current Jaws would probably be that I wish it worked with a greater variety of programs, but the Jaws of 10 years ago would work with fewer still of what's available today. I wasn't a great math student back in school but vaguely remember something that a system can either be comprehensive or perfectly consistent but not both. The person in my town who got me started on Jaws said "don't expect it to be perfect." That's pretty good advice.Personally, I have never had any major problems with stability in any Jawsversion. It seems to vary so much from user to user. Once in a while I have to restart, or wait a little, or alt tab a bit. But as long as it works 99+% of the time, which it does, I'm willing to put up with these occasional imperfections. If I had the experiences that some report of daily crashes, which I don't, I'd probably have a different opinion. I'm a little surprised we as Jaws users still have problems opening certain types of web links and get stymied by certain other web navigational problems. If I were FS I would give the highest priority tomaking sure we are on a par with the mouse users on all things web as thatis so obviously the trend. The point here especially for Dave is that things have not gotten better for Blind computer users, Microsoft Windows users, nor JAWS users, they have gotten worse, as I have not had a single problem with my old computer's configuration for 11 years. Can any say that about what they are using right now, with JAWS 12, Windows 7? Not I!! LOL! He basically came to say he was developing a Screen Reading software. I must tell you, I did not take him very serious, nor did I think many of the nearly 30 attendents did I actually chuckled to myself of course, when he took the speakers stand andstarted his presentation, "How does this guy think he can go up againstDigital Equipment Company, DEC Talk, the IBM Screen Reader, Giant corporations that could throw as much money into their Screen reading software programs as they cared to". I had not a clue that he was on to something fantastic! I remember him as a very kind soft spoken, cordial gentleman. I am so glad it worked out for him, and us!
