JAWS chatters on and on

Hi. I noticed that sometimes when I select to read all or even just the
next Paragraph, JAWS cannot be silenced by hitting any key such as the
control key. Usually, this will bring the JAWS speech to a halt as it
should. This occurrence seems to only happen with a large block of
text. Has anyone else experienced this and can it be dealt with?
