It has been my experience with the chat window just hitting the escape key
closes the window. I believe you have to be in the chat area for this to work.

Actually you don't need to hit F5 at all. It's easier.
The edit box (the first one) refreshes the page each time you hit enter on
it. So if you hear the sound and it's not showing up then you can go into forms
mode and hit enter to get out of forms mode and the message should be there.
I have problems removing people I've chatted with and clearing my chat
windows. There is:
  Unlabeled 0 button
  name
  0
  close
  name
  today
  off line on line status
  edit
  edit
  Unlabeled 3 button
  link chat
  number of people on chat

So I don't know what those buttons do and I don't know what close is supposed
to do, other than stop the conversation from showing.
Any help on this would be great!
  Thank you,

  hey it is very simple.
when you open up facebook you will arrow down a few lines and find the chat
button.
hit either enter or spacebar on this.
a list of people will come below that that are available to chat.
press either enter or spacebar on the person you want to chat to.
you will be put direct into the chat edit box.
type your message and press enter.
  your message is sent
when you recieve a message back 9 times out of 10 you will hear a sound so
you know you have a message.
the other 1 time no sound will be heard and in that instance you will need to
keep refreshing the page with f5 and going to the top of the page and arrowing
down to see if ther has been a message sent.
  hth.

My suggestion is to download instantbird. It is a multi protocal chat
program. You can configure multiple chat programs to work withit... that
including the facebook chat. You can also try windows life messenger 2011.
Those are the two most accessible ways I can suggest with jaws.

  Hi guys,

I'm wondering if you guys use the chat feature on the facebook.com web page.

If so, how does it work and how can I get it working right with JAWS?

  Jim
