I'm also finding that JFW 8 seems to be a bit more sluggish when hitting the "read current line command" (JAWS-KEY+NUMPAD8) than JFW 7.1 was when wanting to manually get the status of the currently highlighted message.

I am. It also happens when I skip through messages with alt-right arrow. Having identified it, however, it doesn't annoy me. What does trouble me is that JAWS 8 is slow to react when I try to save a message into another folder. In fact, it sometimes does something else, such as try to forward the message or take me into help. I'm referring to the procedure where I press alt-f, then m for move.
