Hello David,

I'm not sure why you added that you know how to double delete an OE message.
That isn't exactly on point, here. I know how to double-delete an email
message or a file in Windows Explorer. Like many people, I happen to
appreciate having a deleted items folder so that I can recover a message I
deleted prematurely or accidentally, or just reread it; I have OE set to clean
out that folder when I exit the program, and that's a good enough compromise
for me. I'm not sure why someone feels the need to not have anything in the
deleted items folder, although whatever the reason is, fine. But anyway, I
wasn't talking about that.
Take care.

I'm forced to ask the same question as you have just ask here. However, I
press athe shift key along with the Delete Kay. This will keep your messages
from going into your Deleted Message File.
Your Friend
Dave

Ordinarily, I just press the Delete key to delete an OE message. I've never
understood why OE even offers control D for the purpose. But in this scenario,
deleting a message while you're inside it in order to proceed to the next
message in the list view, does it make a difference in the way the process
behaves whether you press Delete or use Control D? I don't have Jaws 8 yet, so
I don't have a clear idea of this problem. What is your main point here-- that
you wait a couple of seconds after opening the message before you delete it,
rather than rush to delete it as soon as you hear the first few words? Or that
you use Control D instead of the Delete key?

I hope my questions are clear. thanks.

  Hi,

To be honest I never gave this issue much thought. When I finish reading a
message, I wait about 2 seconds, and press control D from inside a message.
This is how I get around hearing the first word when I hit this hotkey.

I am. It also happens when I skip through messages with alt-right arrow.
Having identified it, however, it doesn't annoy me. What does trouble me is
that JAWS 8 is slow to react when I try to save a message into another
folder. In fact, it sometimes does something else, such as try to forward
the message or take me into help. I'm referring to the procedure where I
press alt-f, then m for move. Now that's annoying.

I found initially JAWS 8 was fine but when I use it on outlook express and I
am reading a message I notice upon hitting the delete key I hear the word
deleted followed by the first word of the text of the new message then the
new message is read from beginning to end, however every single time I hit
the delete key I hear the first word of the next message prior to having the
message read. Anyone else experiencing this? Dana
