RE: JAWS 4.51 Rendering of CAPTION element

...and of course, I forgot to say that in the utopian world, the
application would be intelligent enough to adapt to the user. We're
working on that....but it's all R&D.

Thanks for your input.

ah, I see, app not web. That does make sense. This however is the
second time in a month that I have heard of jaws users some how setting
things up so that things don't work correctly. I am a bit guilty of
this now that we can suppress content refreshing and flash on web pages
but I know when it happens and can compensate for it. The other case
was where a user insists on running with no graphics on web pages set in
configuration manager including turning off graphical links etc.
Imagine what you miss with that.

....to make the application as user configurable as possible. As a
result, the user should have total control over the user interface. In
an ideal world, that includes configurations that are enhanced for
accessibility.

What does it mean to accomodate all possible personas?

Thanks Dave. We have the same experience with the verbosity levels
turned up to capture everything. On the other hand, this helps us ensure
that our clients are developing compliant sites and applications. If the
user decides to turn something off, then they did it of their own
accord. Developers however, should accommodate all possible personas.

I don't know of any settings in 4.51 that would prohibit display of
summary or caption in tables. In fact, when I used 4.51 for some 508
auditing, it was quite annoying to hear all the summery on lay out
tables.

Sorry Dave, I don't. I'm trying to get a snapshot of the code myself.

Mike, Have you got a page on which this occurs for us to take a look at?

Has anyone experienced a situation when JAWS 4.51 with IE 6.0, wouldn't
render the CAPTION element or SUMMARY attribute within a TABLE (data or
layout)?

We're trying to help a "remote" user whose currently having this
problem. It's hard to figure out without seeing all of the settings and
configuration.

Thanks,

Mike
