Hello Alan:

For several years, we used Speakeasy. An internet service provider. They
used "fixed" IP addressing.

We switched to Verizon in September, 2006 because it was cheaper. Like most
internet providers, they use "dynamic" IP addressing. We were fine for
almost a year. For some reason or another, we kept losing our internet
service whenever thunder or Lightning storms were in and around where we
live, which is the reason why we switched to Earthlink.

We get our Earthlink service through Time Warner Cable.

Verizon has told us that they will be providing their fiber optic service in
the area where we live in the next few months.

As much as I do not like Verizon, I am looking forward to having the high
upload and download speeds that you can get with fiber optic, versus DSL,
when we subscribe to their FIOS service.

sincerely:

Dave Durber
