Who is your provider? I ask the question because it is not always necessary to install the ISP provider's software. For example, My ISP provider is Earthlink. I did not install their software tools, as I am already own and use software that is as good as, if not better than their protection software. Another reason why I personally would not use an ISP provider's software, is that I do not want to be tied to them exclusively.
