That issue was prevalent back when I got this PC in 2001 and I think I had 
to go and find updated drivers on the website.
And I can't remember now, but it seems to me I had to uninstall the box 
version of the drivers first before installing the new one.  I could do 
this, as I had and still have outboard speech.
