Sorry, I see no reasoning behind this, and really can't follow what
you're saying.  You somehow think laptops are so fragile that they can't
be used much?  I don't know if that was true at one time, but it's not
true today.

There are companies today that buy *only* laptops for all employees.
They've improved so much, that they are indistinguishable in
capabilities from a desktop if you want to pay for the ones with larger
screens.  They certainly can operate just as much.

They are more fragile in that they can be dropped, where a desktop is
unlikely to have that happen to it; they can also be stolen if you take
it out of your house.  Other than that, there's no need for such a
vague, but alarmist, warning as the one you gave.

Don't believe me?  Go ask the experts on the news group
comp.sys.laptops; a lot of these guys are the IT shop support or
purchasing folks, and they know quite a bit about laptops.
