I just want to say that even though my own memory of a Jaws crash involved
an earlier versin of Jaws and the a e vowel combination related to another
word, I became curious because of this thread So I first went to
dictionary.com to remind myself of the word's meaning (I know it only with
an "a" at the end, usually used as a musical term (Italian language) to
denote a pause.

Anyway, just typing it into the dictionary.com form froze my computer so
that I couldn't exit any applications or shut down properly, so I had to
reboot from the computer's power button.

I rebooted, then launched Word, typed the word there, and had Jaws do a say
all on that line. I got a gong noise as if I were being kicked off a cheesy
talent show, and Jaws conked out, and I had to do some fancy dancing to exit
the error dialogue box I saw but whose message I couldn't read, and then I
had to relaunch Jaws. One thing I learned from this is that I ain't
choosing that word from my Word Thesaurus if I'm ever looking for an
alternative to something I'm writing about a pause, even when that is the
optimal word for the job. No sir!
