amie, the point is why do you need facebook?
Saying that the concept of facebook is philosophically a waste of time is
quite different to saying you can't navigate it easily.
I do think that much of facebook is a waste of time for me, partly
because
the applications and stuff that you can use are often quite inaccessible
and
also because I see no point in making friends on facebook just for the
sake
of it like a lot of people do.
Facebook or twitter for that matter will however let you get a lot of
information out to people who follow you on those networks. The same
thing
can be done with emails of course. Facebook can also be good for
catching
up with old friends or people you have lost touch with.
It is a while since I signed up to facebook but at the sign in screen
you
get one of those Capcha boxes where you have to enter the text in the
graphic. Either get your husban to do it or take advantage of the link
that
lets you email support if you are having problems creating your account.
when I signed up I got a response to this with a password I could use to
log
in then change as required.

I also use the full site wit no problems, sure it's not perfect, but if
you
know your secreenreader well enough and know your navigation keys, you
shouldn't have too many problems. Although recently IE8 seems to be
crashing causing the tab to be closed and then recovered while on
facebook,
but I doubt that this has anything to do with jaws.
