Mark,

I have the same problem. When my Microsoft Outlook first comes up, it is
not in focus. I just used these three commands:

1. "Mouse Grid"

2. "Mouse Click"

3. "Press Home"

The first command ensures that your mouse is not going to cause a change
that you don't want, the second command brings Outlook into focus, and the
third moves the cursor to the first message.

Garland

Sorry for the delayed response:-

Outlook 2003 is not in focus at start-up no matter what method I used to
start-up the program. I have tried:-

1. The command ‘Open Outlook’

2. Navigating through the start menu using the mouse and also via
speech commands

Outlook is in focus when it loads but once fully loaded it loses focus. Does
anybody know what could be causing this issue?

The software installed is as follows:-

Dragon 9.1 SP1

Jaws 7.10.500

J-Say 4.03

I also have the following issues / additional questions:-

1. After reading a message when I speak the ‘Close Message’
command Outlook inserts the words ‘Close Message’ into the body field
instead of closing the message. I have made sure that there is a period of
silence before I issue the command. What is going wrong?

2. What is the best method to switch between applications. For
example, if I have both Outlook and Word open and Outlook is the selected
application how do I switch to Word?

Cheers

Mark

Mark- if you have the opportunity is it possible to have you launch Outlook
using the keystrokes? See if it opens with focus, or not.

Then, try launching Outlook by navigating through the start menu using your
voice (as opposed to the Jsay start command) and see if it launches with
focus or not. Repost to the list with an update...ed.

I have the following issues with Outlook 2003:-

1. When I start Outlook, which has been configured to startup in the
Inbox folder, I am unable to use the program until I issue the ‘Check
Application’ command because it is not in ‘focus’. I have configured Outlook
so that the emails are ordered by date, the reading pane is set to off and
auto preview is set to off. What do I need to do to resolve this problem?

2. After reading a message when I issue the ‘Close Message’ command
Outlook inserts the words ‘Check Message’ into the body field instead of
closing the message. I have made sure that there is a period of silence
before I issue the command. What is going wrong?

Software specs:-

Windows XP SP2

Microsoft Office 2003

JAWS 7

Dragon Naturally Speaking 9.1

J-Say 4
