Hi Sharon

OK let's deal with the jaws updating issue first if I could.

Each time a JAWS update is made available, we have to undertake
substantial, and I do mean substantial amendments to the default jaws
code. This also involves adding our own many features back into the
jaws default files. This takes a great deal of time and beta testing,
and so we decided to skip build 2107, but we will be releasing an update
for 2173. We already committed publicly to this some time ago and it is
very likely XP users will be able to upgrade also.
We will then need to start working on the JAWS 9 release right away else
I will be answering the same question in respect of jaws 9 (smile).

Please remember however that, as far as XP and Office 2003 are
concerned, build 1177 is incredibly stable with J-Say especially with
our J-Say functions built in. While there may be items which were
fixed in 2173, there are one or two regressions too and my
responsibility is to ensure that those do not impact upon people who
seriously cannot use the keyboard because of perhaps physical or
learning challenges with minimal (if any) sighted computing assistance.
This is what I believe we have at the moment. But in summary, yes, we
are working on getting that to you.

In terms of transferring the profile, certainly this is very easy. You
may know that we have a backup tool which backs up your voice profile.
Simply go to the start menu, to backup, and hit Enter. This will erase
any previous backups (very important), and copy the new profile to a
folder on your hard drive called
C:\TTConsult

In theory, this folder could be copied to the other computer, placing it
on the C drive, go to the start menu, find Restore, and press enter.
Again, the Dragon profile is erased and replaced with the new one.
However, that depends upon the sound source being used. Ed is perfectly
correct as ever in that digital sound sources are definitely the answer
here, but if they are two completely different sound sources, perhaps it
is better to have two profiles to reach optimum recognition.

Any questions, please let me know.

Subject: [j-say list] J-Say working with later builds than 8.01177 JAWS
releases still using XP

Hello all,

I apologize for not having been accurate enough and my question
regarding J-Say and how soon it would be compatible with later builds of
JAWS.

As others have asked and Sina summarized beautifully, the question is
not about J-Say working with Vista but rather some of the improvements
later builds of JAWS have created that are JAWS fixes. As Sina indicated
and Own intonated, my question is referring to a hope for J-Say to be
able to work with the later builds of JAWS 8.0 that have some of the
JAWS issues themselves fixed. Hope this is clearer.I am hoping J-Say
will be more compatible with the later builds of JAWS for the sake of
JAWS fixes not really because i expect J-Say to work with the latest
windows release or anything.

Also I did use the link from the T and T consultancies web site andwhat
I assume was the same link available through Next Generation. I never
came to a prompt that allowed me to enter in the serial number and
authorization number. I'll get that sorted out next week.

Another pressing question, can anyone tell me if the J-Say I purchase
(nearly a thousand dollars Canadian) can be loaded on my lap top and my
desk top both and how I would address profiles being updated. Is there
some way to merge the updates or how does this work?

Many thanks for any response.

Sorry for any confusions.

Sharon B.
