Hi all,

Files I have been sending recently from my Iyonix can't be opened by
the recipients because they are protected. How does this work on the
Iyonix? On inspecting the default access state they seem to be
unprotected and private. If I change private to public then they seem
to be accessible to others. Has this always been the default or am I
missing something here?  Can you change the universal default to
unprotected/public? Access details are then Unlocked, Owner
read/write, public read / not write.
Sending - how?
or putting on network share? .. if so, which network filing system?
And what OS are the recipients running?
This sounds like the behaviour of the latest version of MS Office -
files created on old versions of Office and in EasiWriter are flagged
as unsafe and open in protected mode.
You either need to educate your recipients in how to open them despite
the warnings, or open them yourself in a recent version of Office and
resave them before sending. Office 2007 seems to be OK for this.
I am wondering if I have come across a related or similar problem - in
reverse. Sometimes when I receive MS Word files they demand a password
to be opened (on Iyonix, 5.18, Easiwriter 9.00). But can be opened
without fuss by my "children" using MS office. Is there something I
can request of the sender to make these files universally readable?

Maybe .. but I have seen this issue when saving to some network filing systems, and was hoping that the OP could confirm what he does so I could discover whether it is what I've seen (albeit not now on iyonix) or something else.
