This is getting silly.  Like a Witch Hunt, we now have people claiming
problems are due to recent ROM updates, with no evidence whatsoever.

Problems with the network chip (as well as other non-specific issues with
the system) seem to be often due to the PSU.  The Iyonix motherboard seems
to be rather more sensitive to supply voltage than an I'd expect an
ATX-compatible board to be.

Otherwise, it sounds like a boot system problem, possible exacerbated by
adding in a softload.  As others have asked, did you use Reporter to look
for any problems and to confirm that !Boot completed?
