I don't have the person use the dog's name, but I do either have a
conversation with the person I want her to follow, so I can be sure
she's following the right person, or I just have them let me know when
we're going to make a turn, that kind of thing. Now, I just gesture
towards the person I need her to follow, and she is quite accurate at
this point.

One friend of mine says it's best not to encourage the person leading to call

when teaching?

Subject: [IOTAList] Re: Follow Command
I basically teach "follow" the same way Julie does, so not much to add there.
One difference is that I save teaching the dog to follow another pedestrian until the dog
is almost done with training. I live in a pretty complicated environment, so I want to
make sure my dog understands how to guide well and with confidence before I introduce the
follow command. Especially because I work a GSD who thinks following is the funnest game
on earth.
