Definitely NOT, from my own experience.

I dont know about Mozilla Thunderbird (I guess its heavy weight), but
sylpheed is very light (atleast the version that comes with Debian Woody).
It works peacefully on an old Pentium with 32 MB RAM.


Sorry, I wrongly quoted it.  I was talking about the resource
hungriness of thunderbird.  Never use thunderbird on a machine with
128MB RAM.  Sylpeed is definitely lightweight (both gtk1 and gtk2)
