From the modem web interface you can find out the status of WAN connection?Find out whether you got an external IP, packet/frame loss, etc. etc..

configure my modem in such a way to work wiith my
linux in wi-fi.
Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

When you run this, your card is already
as you said is yourping 192.168.1.1 <http://192.168.1.1> which
you look into its configgateway and see if it is
working?
