To add more points to the user space application.I have used an
Amida Simputer, it has almost all what a normal PDA would have plus
they have a bash(Ash/Csh) Terminal coming out of a Serial console.They
have a USB connector and a pretty good GUI.I think it is QT/QY if i am
not wrong.The Diffculty in using the device comes when the USB devices
does not have supported drivers. They provide most of the standard
2.4.X kernel tree modules with the simputer,ofcourse you could always
connect it your host PC and sync.
They have a jukebox/music player , Open office , a browser (opera i
guess - am not sure long time since i used it). If Novatium is looking
into the PDA market they can be sure of real stiff competition from
Amida.
Now because of Bearish Sales they are looking into POS (Point of
Sales) and other markets to sell the linux box (in fact looking at all
other possible markets).Guess the Low Budget PC market is yet to
mature in India.......
