Hi,
As far as notes is concerned, I remember reading an article somewhere that
IBM was moving away from Notes internally and they were switching to
web-enabled version. I dont have the link with me.
About MS Exhange, I am sure it has a lot of viruses and by not using it,
amount of administration required can be reduced. Please correct me if I am
wrong.
About open source groupware, have u looked at open group ware?
Anyway, you might want to look at a combination of Cyrus Imap server with
Evolution (if you have linux clients) or combination of Cyrus Imap server
with Squirrel Mail ( webmail client) . One can extend functionality of
Squirrel Mail using plug-ins. Plug-ins seem to give good functionality and
seemed pretty similar to Lotus Notes functionality at first glance.
I have not tried the implementation practically. However if you already
have Lotus Notes running and are using a workflow application or if u use
the combination of workflow application in future, the workflow application
might be a road block to migrating.

Sanjay

Windows 2003 is a good product, a fairly stable product but I wouldntHow do I convince someone who is ready to pay for MS software as well as
dream of sticking it in where we have *bsd and linux machines .. for one
thing it'd require something like 4..5 times the amount of server
hardware to do anywhere near the same job that's done with bsd (and some
of our machines are quad xeons which require HIGHMEM patches for the
amount of RAM they have).
