And Ximian makes a connector for exchange mailboxes that is a paid

How do I convince someone who is ready to pay for MS software as well as the
powerful hardware it requires. His only point is that it will increase
productivity and many large organizations are using such setup. I dont think
I can talk technical aspects to him. I will post to this list, after further
discussions with him in one or two days.
Exchange / Notes will definitely increase productivity in the
organization - it is excellent groupware.
It is not secure and it is not optimized for actual mailserving - it is
primarily a groupware application.
So deploy exchange within the organization - but have unix mailhubs and
firewalls deployed on the border.
