Well, this topic was to come up sooner or later. So it is good that I
clarify about this right away.
Understand that I stand to gain by this. I am going to have fun, learn since
teaching is the best way to learn and I will also gain your gratitude and
hopefully some contacts. Moreover I will gain invaluable experience in
training.
If I charge 10 or 20, the question will come, why not 1000, why not 10,000.
It will be like weighing my 10 years of experience and hard work with
money. No amount of money can ever make up for that.
Another way to look at it is, if everyone were money minded, today
there would be no linux or *BSD and we would not be talking. :-)
Most importantly I owe my entire life to open source and people's
willingnes to share knowledge freely. I look upon this as my own
little way to pay back to the community.
I hope I make myself clear. Please don't get vexed thinking that I am
doing some social service like Narmada Bachao Andolan .
I don't understand what people mean by charity. The best way to keep
yourself happy is to help others. Why make a big deal of it?
I am in it with a strict personal purpose!
I am not burning my pockets here. Unless one of you or some of you
come forward and arrange the following things, the talk will not
happen. Period.
a) A hall large enough to accommodate the attendees (preferrably IIT
auditorium since it is cheap and good)
b) A video camera and a cameraman
c) A sound system that is really good. The acoustics of the room
should be such that it supports a large number of people hearing
clearly what the speaker is saying.
d) A projector that can maker sure that people sitting in the last row
can clearly read the text
e) Other logistics that I don't remember
This is not an individual effort. This is a team effort driven by me,
that is all.

PS:- I would much appreciate if this thread stopped right here.
Already I had heated discussions on this with my father and
grandfather. I can't take anymore. Nobody can convince me to charge
money for this.
