If its a dirt cheap and poor quality ethernet card like one of those,
then it is quite likely to get solved by replacing the card
Another thing - if that router is also the NAT gateway for your office
PCs, then see if you cant seperate your LAN gateway IP and your
mailserver IP .. you wont have junk traffic from your LAN [and infected
systems, older windows installs etc can generate a ton of that], and
this problem would be minimized even more.
