Have you tried the graphical version of elinks? Or w3m?
Had lots of problems with w3m javascript. I did not bother to try to debug
the issues. i should really spend some time with it to see what went wrong.
Basically when i hit a problem i switched to elinks and have not looked
back.
I stopped using text mode browsers a long time ago since I can always
figure out how to run X on pretty much any modern hardware.
Yeah, but the problem is when you don't have X installed at all. My general
rule has been to not install X on any of my servers (usually Webmin is as
far as I go for GUI management).
X has also improved. And the fact that LCD monitors aren't that messy.
In spite of X's improvements it still sucks :) I've been battling X for 16
years now. And I can't say that it has become any more pleasant to work with
over the years. The only good thing is that there is better documentation.
Obviously this is IMHO, so take that with a grain of masala.
That said text mode is cool. ;)
And that's really the point :)
