Going off topic, But Bajaj had a patent - do you think they would have
allowed TVS to use it even if they were willing to pay crores of rupees to
access the information? My point was even in the engineering world you can
control who gets to see what and who gets to use what.
Software vendors did not use patent where they agree to disclose their
processes for a fee, but copyright to close source and hide knowledge.
I don't think it is that simple. I guess we need to start another thread to
discuss this!
Well if you buy a car with an ABS system, do you think GM or TATA or
Maruthi
is going to give you it's embedded software source code or the source code
of the engine management software because you have bought their product and
you want the freedom to modify it?
