it works fine with Ubuntu 8....why i wanted it on Mandriva is the reason that
this OS is very user friendly for my friends

looks like this modem is not linux compatible - try with knoppix live
cd and see if it is detected. I find the tataindicom usb modem works
out of the box with linux
