Linux recently became the most ported OS on earth
crossing NetBSD in terms of the archs it supports.
There is really no question as to whether some piece
of hardware is supported by Linux as not.
However drivers for certain very rare, very new TV
cards or some esoteric hardware whose data sheets are
not avaiable or companies that don't release any
hardware info don't exist.
Still using certain Windoze firmware and some reverse
engineering some linux folks have succeeded in
supporting some devices. For instance certain
Winmodems used for dialup come to mind.
By and large an unbelievably wide array of hardware is
very well supported by linux.
In fact I find my TV card is better supported by
"tvtime" and linux drivers than the company supported
drivers for Windoze.
What do u say to that eh? Cool, isn't it? :-)
