him:
- Avoiding "Vendor Lockin"
- Return on Investment, Total Cost of Ownership
- Availability of Support (and the cost factor)
- Interoperability : high in FOSS
- Stability of the software (Industrial strength
software e.g. for 
networks)


Along side, first of foremost of all, freedom to use
the software for 
whatever reason you wish to use it for ;)

An average company who wants to use some software does
not have geeks who can modify code of a 10k line
program,so freedom to modify code is a point which
wont impress any CEO.
