having Linux2.6. Is it possible for me to update the Kernel to 2.6
without affecting other functionalities?
mostly... but it is a bit risky to bump a major version (like 2.4 -
2.6)... the userland utilities might break... but the probability is
quite less, as the kernel usually retains backward compatibility...
tread with care still...
from what i have heard, debian/ubuntu works without hitches on most
laptops... give it a try...
it moves on...
