Hi, Version 16.3 and Version 16.5 are fully supported on Win7 64bit. Most of the issues with 16.3 running on Win7 64bit has to do with the License manager and dongle drivers. 16.5 has all of the correct 64bit files included in the software. I would suggest installing the License manger from 16.5 and running a 16.5 license even if you are using 16.3 The license files are backward compatible. I would suggest running the Switch Release as administrator. If you select the switchrelease.exe and RMB choose Run As Admin. You only need to do this once. This should help with the UAC controls. You can also do this by hovering over the program in the Start menu or a desktop icon. You can always contact Cadence for support on these issues. The only issue we have with Windows 7 is that, if you want to switch to another release, using 'Cadence SPB switch release', then you have to have the UAC (User Access Control) turned all the way off. This I supposed to be fixed in 16.5, but still seems to be an issue. The new machines are all windows 7 now.... I did some looking around on various forums and several people were having problems getting it to work on Win 7 64 bit machines. Most stated they had no problems with 32bit but either had to run a virtual machine to get it working or couldn't get it to run at all on 64 bit. I did not find follow up info suggesting if it was no longer an issue or if they found other good solutions. So in a nutshell my question is: are people still having these problems or do the newer sr's fix this? We would obviously prefer 64bit but if it is going to pose any major problems with setup then it may be best to just go with 32 bit.
