Hi, everyone, If I am writing examination papers, everything after the heading is in a list, the items of which are the questions numbers, 1, 2, 3 etc. Within each question there is often another list of the things the candidate is required to prove, calculate, explain etc. This works well. When the embedded list is ended with ctrl ] I re-enter the item of the original list and shift carriage return allows me to continue in the main item. However if I attempt to embed a displayed equation in the item, the system does no allow me to use the shift carriage return after ctrl ] to stay in the outer list item. I simply get a beep and nothing happens. A carriage return gets me to the following item of the outer list. I can get round this by using an in-line equation on a line of its own and the shift carriage return them works and allows me to stay in the outer list item. It's more tricky if I want to embed a table in an outer list item. It beeps at a shift carriage return after a ctrl ] and there is no work-around. The only thing possible is a carriage return with the effect described above. A table has to be at the end of the item and has to have one or two blank rows at the bottom to ensure the correct spacing between questions. Is there any reason why tables and equations should not work in a list as does an embedded list and allow a shift carriage return after ctrl ]? If not, could it be on the wish-list?
