In sound rts, when defining a unit you can have a "is_a" line followed by a unit name, which causes this unit to automatically inherit all the properties of that unit and allows you to only specify the ones you want to change, for example the keep has a line that says "is_a townhall" and then only has lines for its max hp, cost etc, only those things that are different from the townhall. Would this be what you're looking for? Or is having separate units at all the problem. You can always change a specific unit's flags within the map file, I've never tried it with sound but I think it would work.
