In case you want to get rid of the X11::Protocol dependency, you could
upgrade to AnyEvent::I3 0.10 (which I just released). It figures out the
socket path automatically (just like the script does with X11::Protocol,
but AnyEvent::I3 just calls i3 --get-socketpath instead).
