Yeah, between the ATA errors in the vm plus the smart errors on baron, I
fear a disk is definitely going south. Performance in vmweb is *horrible*..
writing ~200MB to disk takes 5-10 minutes + a bunch of ATA errors in syslog.
Well, the 8 pending sectors reported by smart have been stable for some time,
so I doubt that those are having a bad effect. The ATA errors are worrying,
but those aren't new either and they occur around 2-3 times per day, so I'm
not quite sure that these are the causes for the poor performance you have
seen.
When I tried to copy 1 GB of data from /dev/sda to a file on vmweb, it
managed to do that in 40s, which isn't too bad in my eyes. How did you do
your copying?
In any case, if someone wants to do something about those problems, please
feel free to do so. However, I won't be the one doing it.
