"I personally don't have any need/plans" doesn't make for a very
convincing argument. Much the same could be said by someone or other
about virtually every facet of the system. In any case, the point of
the core files is precisely for a more detailed analysis of crashes of
something that the person doing the analysis doesn't necessarily have
direct access to (i.e. a crash that a user can reproduce but the
developer can't), since a debug report can only provide so much
information, whereas a core provides full access to all of the team's
memory at time of crash. As such, they're of course going to be less
useful to someone who has knowledge of how to actually debug a problem
they have directly at hand, though they're still handy for doing a
post-mortem analysis of e.g. an app_server or registrar crash.
Furthermore, I fail to see how a drop-down menu that changes the
function of another button is somehow less confusing than the direct
button itself, especially since one still has the same number of UI
widgets in the end.
