I think that's OK, too.
We could be all fancy and replace the package file names with the
packages actual names and icons by querying the Haiku Depot Server (or
using HaikuDepots cached info), but as the SoftwareUpdater may be only
a stop gap, not too much effort has to be spent on that.
Yeah maybe once it gets integrated into HaikuDepot we could do icons.  However 
maybe we can spice up that window a bit and make it a column list view with 
columns Package name, Current version, New version, Source repository.  That 
would be neater and allow sorting by name or repository to make looking at the 
list easier.  Right now it seems like the order is based on importance, but 
then that ends up with some Haiku repo packages at the very top of the list, 
then HaikuPorts, then 3rd party repos, then other Haiku devel packages at the 
bottom.


That's a good point. Although it points more toward improving Haiku's
notifications. As PulkoMandy said, it'd be nice to make them a bit
less space consuming.
yes I think we did discuss that and on my todo list.

Currently, notification groups can be minimizes with the left side
widget, to fold into a small bar. That's already not too bad if you
want to continue working undisturbed while a progress-notification is
running.
That is an option but you won’t see the progress.  And you couldn’t add a count 
like (1/12) to the group name because that would create a new group for each 
download.

Maybe instead, it could be reduced to an animated icon in the
Deskbar tray, i.e. the Notifications icon itself could show a vertical
progress bar.
But what happens if there are multiple notifications with a progress bar? They 
will fight it out with one another overdrawing the other.  What about putting a 
progress bar on the SoftwareUpdater application icon in the Deskbar programs 
list?  Has anyone ever done something like that?
