Okay, looking at them through VNC they fall into just a few groups

The original Ubuntu jaunty repos (disabled)
us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty
security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu jaunty-security
old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu jaunty
archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty
archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty-updates
deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty-updates

(most of the above are on multiple lines, inflating the line-count due to a bug with too long lines)

I have one for Java, and several private repos as well (schools, mostly).

I have no idea which are bad right now, LOL! I spent hours trying to get a SINGLE piece of software after it became corrupted due to a file system glitch (corruption loves me - I swear!). I would have had less problems if Ubuntu had planned in a way to handle obsolescence, but they did not. I hope Haiku has a plan for that... It is entirely likely that someone may want to stick with R1 after R2 is out for any number of reasons...

I'm all for permitting private repos, but they should be HIGHLY discouraged for publicly available software. Haiku is suppose to be a desktop-centric OS, am I right? Not to be focused as a developer platform, or a server OS, or a full-on general purpose OS. An OS that has enough power to make nerds happy, but easy enough for grandma to use on a daily basis to write email and check out the news... Of course, grandmas like to use Skype these days... but that is another discussion entirely.
