At least, since moving to Trash is set by default, it's not destructive 
in that your deleted file is now suddenly deleted for good directly...
Would you say that adding extra code to get the value from an out-dated 
settings file is worth it, considering we're still in alpha?
People that don't send deleted files to Trash will scratch their head 
once when they see their Trash filling up when deleting. Then they'll 
check the Tracker settings to their preferred state again.

In general, I wonder how many people deactivate the Trash... It's a 
safety net I sure wouldn't want to miss. It's still possible to 
consciously do SHIFT+DEL to bypass the Trash, which I do sometimes. And 
I should mention that quite a few times, I've regretted holding SHIFT a 
split second after the icon has disappeared... :)
