I'llo be there if my schedule allows it! Though I appear to be the odd
person out 'cause I'd much rather make ales/lagers than stouts... But,
I might be able to survive a stout or two for the first batch. :-)

The bill totaled out at $120, $60 for each batch. Each batch will
make approximately 2.5 cases of beer.
The bill was a little higher than I expected, which is partly due to
increases in prices, and partly due to the fact that my favorite
supplier shut down and I had to buy at a more expensive supplier. If
the club or brewing participants aren't interested in covering
supplies, that's okay, I'll be happy to take the supplies home. Also,
if we end up having relatively fewer participants, we can figure out
some sort of pro-rated scheme or whatever's agreeable to the
participants. I've been brewing for almost 25 years, I do this for
fun, so I'm not going to be neurotic about the cost of brewing
supplies.
I bought ingredients to make two of my favorite recipes, dark sleep
chocolate stout and imperial stout. I chose these recipes for several
reasons:
First, I know that several people had expressed interest in dark beers
and specifically stouts. I think somebody even specifically asked for
the Imperial Stout (specifically Steve Morrison's imperial stout,
which as it turns out is the recipe I use :-) ).
Second, these are two of my favorite recipes, I've made them many
times.
Third, stouts are very robustly flavored, so it's relatively easy to
make a good, tasty stout.
