I'd say 1. starting point as a POI 2. setting it as a destination and 3 setting it as your virtual position.

Are they:
1. setting a virtual position, using your virtual as a reference via the i command 2. setting up a route such that the starting point is your reference point and using that as a reference point via the k command

We all know of course that you can set one destination and use it as a reference point. In fact, it is possible to set 3 reference points. What are the other two?
