The Voice Sense is a very small note taker and it will soon have the Sendero GPS available for it. You do have to carry it around with you, and it really is best to use a shoulder strap, but it is very light and many of the same commands that a Braille note user is used to will work with the Voice Sense. In addition to the similar commands, we've added our own dialogs when changing various settings to the program.

Oh yes, I know that the Sendero system is much more refined. I just don't have the money to buy it, And I don't like carrying things over my shoulder. The thing that I like about the Trekker is that I can have a Bluetooth earphone and a Bluetooth receiver in my pocket and the main PDA in my other pocket. So there are no wires and no straps. I would much rather have the Sendero system because it is much more advanced in many ways, but I don't want a Braillenote. The system is also smart enough to announce points of interest automatically as well as turns and intersections as you approach them. This is from a user who has been using the symem for almost two years. I douse both, but I use a different system then is spoken about onthis list. The only reason I use a different system is because when I boughtmine, Ididn't have the money for the Sendero system. I also use a GuideDog, and Idon't have much trouble. The only trouble that I have is thatwhen mysystem locks up or I need to use both hands to press more then 1key I needto stop walking so that I can put the harness down to use bothhands for GPSwork. Otherwise having GPS helps me a lot because I can let thesystemverify my where abouts and concentrate more on working with mydog.----- Original Message ----- From: "Alex Parks" <mehgcap@xxxxxxx To: <gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, November 14, 2007 8:55 PM Subject: [gps-talkusers] Re: gps and guide dogs.I don't use a dog, but I wonder if this could be bad as it wouldlessen thedog's obedience to the master's commands? I love computers, but Iam notsure this is such a great idea. There are probably many angles Iammissing, though, and I hope Sendero continues to lead theindustry inwhatever direction this potential technology takes.Have a great day, Alex----- Original Message ----- From: "Gerry Leary" <lgerry3@xxxxxxxxx To: <gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date sent: Wed, 14 Nov 2007 20:39:47 -0700 Subject: [gps-talkusers] Re: gps and guide dogs. The dog might go faster if it looks like a Squirrel or Rabbit. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Raul A. I'm always willing to be educated. So, Iwonder, could this dot be made to look like a steak or a cat?Hmmm.Scott Granados said the following on 11/14/2007 1:59 PM:more specifically Sindero software in the core, that's what Ishould havesaid. And actually there's some goggle technology as well asmicroprojectors that would probably be nonintrusive enough to a dogto not bean issue.----- Original Message ----- From: "Raul A. I could havemisunderstood yourmessage. So if I did, I apologize.Scott Granados said the following on 11/14/2007 1:53 PM:Speaking of GPS and guide dogs. I've read papers concerningusing aGPS device (I believe a Sindero product) to supply data to acomputerthat projects a dot in space using modified goggles to the dog directly. The dog can follow the dot that's actuated by the GPS+special software and receive direct feedback concerning theroutetraveled. (need to take a right, the dot travels right) Sortof likea hightech version of chase the laser pointer like you mightplay witha cat. Interesting idea.----- Original Message ----- From: "Melinda Rauch"<mrauch@xxxxxxxxxTo: <gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, November 14, 2007 5:54 AM Subject: [gps-talkusers] gps and guide dogs.Hi Shanna,Melinda and Smokey, My Mellow Fellow here,I also use my gps along with my guide dog.Take care, and be safe out there!Your friends always,Melinda and Smokey My Mellow Fellow and April, now our angeldog.mrauch@xxxxxxxxx-- No virus found in this outgoing message.
